Our Story

What we do & how we started

At Heathfields Residential Care Home, our mission is to deliver the highest standard of care across every aspect of our service. Every member of our dedicated team is committed to upholding these standards through continual improvement and a genuine passion for caregiving. We take great pride in providing exceptional, person-centred care that respects the individuality and dignity of each resident.

Our skilled and qualified care team works closely with tissue viability specialists to promote the wellbeing and comfort of all residents. We place great importance on compassionate and dignified End of Life Care, ensuring that residents’ personal wishes and needs are planned for in advance and honoured with sensitivity and professionalism.

We maintain strong partnerships with local palliative care teams to ensure that residents are kept as comfortable and symptom-free as possible. Our staff receive dedicated End of Life training in collaboration with the St David’s Foundation, equipping them with the skills and empathy needed to support residents and their families during the final stages of life.

Our care philosophy is built on dignity, respect, and empowerment. We actively encourage all residents to exercise their rights and make informed choices in every aspect of their daily lives.

Provide a homely, secure, stable, comfortable and welcoming environment where individuality of care and maintenance of dignity is paramount. Deliver a flexible service which improves and sustains residents’ overall quality of life.
Provide excellent quality care based on clinical effectiveness, evaluated and audited as required by the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care Wales Act 2016.
Ensure our residents are understood by using the most appropriate channel of communication.
Provide an environment that service users feel is their own by promoting independence, encouraging contact with family, and providing security, comfort and reassurance.
Make every change to a service user’s level of care and support with a smooth transition by ensuring that changes to needs are met with a seamless delivery.
Respect our residents’ choices by enabling them to make decisions for themselves. In situations where this is not possible, maintain relationships with relatives in order to act in the residents’ best interests.
Welcome relatives into the Home at any time, provide a homely environment in which families feel comfortable and ensure that they feel they are part of our Home too.
Have the right to privacy for themselves, their belongings and their affairs. Staff adopt a ‘knock before entering’ approach when going in to a resident’s own room.
